Enjoy your holiday but do not forget to …

Colour coordinate your clothes…

Don’t get us wrong—color is a good thing. But when it comes to packing a suitcase, ease up on those teals, magentas and fluorescent yellows. Unless you have the wardrobe to support it, it’ll be near impossible to throw together a fully-coordinated look on the fly. For easy outfit planning, pack 75 percent neutrals, leaving the remaining 25 percent for colorful pieces within the same family (i.e., pastels with pastels; earth tones with earth tones; jewel-hues with jewel-hues).

Enjoy your summer holidays and don’t forget to…

Check the weather

Your travel wardrobe should be chic, yes, but it should also be practical. And weather-appropriate wear is the touchstone of smart dressing. Headed somewhere rainy? A waterproof jacket, rain boots and layered clothing will be essential.

Or, if you’re desert-bound, load up on breathable, lightweight options for the day and sweaters and pants for (cooler) nights.

To get a sense of what kind of weather conditions await you at your destination, set a forecast alert on your iPhone and monitor the weather patterns in the days preceding your departure.

Have fun!

Hats, fashion, and Sun

pool-690034

Lovely big hats to off formal daywear, and – as long as you can keep them on – they solve all hairstyle dilemmas at the stab of a hatpin. Big hats look good on tall women with slim-fitting suits or dresses.

A big hat, full skirt and baggy to equal a fashion disaster and, if the wind gets up, probably a hazard to surrounding cars and motorbikes.

Social kissing in big hats is something to practice. Imagine two ladies in cartwheels of hats approaching each other for ‘mwah mwah’. It’s best to approach with your head slightly tilted one way or another, so the approaching hat picks up the hint and tilts her head the other way.

The secret of looking ladylike with a hat on is a question of balance. Overwrought hair and hats do not mix well. Look at the outfit as a whole in a full-length mirror. Be mindful of colour coordination and silhouette, and bear in mind hat practicalities: will you have to slip through doors sideways; will people be sitting in the row behind you have to use periscopes to see?

Enjoy this magical summer!

“A girl should be two things: Classy and fabulous.”

I could not agree more with Chanel and I believe that every lady should be fabulous even on a beach…

So please, Please, Please… INDULGE IN A PEDICURE AND A LEG AND BIKINI-LINE WAX.

Buy swimwear that fits and flatters and invest in a decent beach-towel – a threadbare rag is a horrible sight. A good floaty cover-up is essential when visiting beach bars, as are some decent flat sandals (tottering about in the sand in high heels is not a good look).

AND No bling unless you’re a model!

Enjoy this magical summer!
